Y'all may recall that years ago I was into logging, did a lot of it, persuaded lots of people to send me lots of their old logs.
I ended up with many hundreds of megabytes of plain text, somewhere on the order of 200 to 1000 MB (! keep in mind ,this is PLAIN TEXT). Some of it was redundant but not a ton-- I estimate the redundancy to be at most four-fold, that is, at least a quarter of that is distinct material that isn't just someone else's copy of the same log.
I was going to assemble some kind of all-encompassing pie-in-the-sky system I then dubbed "Logos" that would magically assemble them all, infer missing metainformation, eliminate duplicates, join nearby logs, etc into one massive single consistent journal. Oh, and it was going to also update with new logs in realtime and have a bunch of features that in retrospect were what would be called web2.0y. (This was in like 2003?)
It was very ambitious and was going to solve every problem about anything related to logs for everyone and anyone. Obviously it never got done at all. Maybe I should have been suspicious when Robby got excited about it. I should have known that was a clear sign it would never actually materialize.
Anyway. Obviously Logos never happened and never will.
I still have all that log data though. It goes back to 2000 and includes mainly #pokebattles as well as related rooms from various eras.
Should I put it up online? What should I do with it? I may be able to just do at least a small portion of what Logos intended-- just cleaning it up a little and making the UI less painful than what happens if you open a 100 MB text file in notepad or your web browser for that matter. The stuff that would take a weekend project tops. The stuff I SHOULD have started with back then. But I was 7 years younger then. (I guess it probably wouldn't have been a weekend project back then either)
Thoughts?
If I do end up doing anything with them, it probably won't be until June.

I think if you could consolidate the logs, that by itself would be a great service to future pokebattle historians. *
* Future pokebattle historians will likely just be you and me.
Well, don't forget I do the historian thing too. ^^

Once upon a time, the only logs I really kept were the silly quote txts which I have subsequently lost. I assume someone else has kept them and perhaps has put them online?
