PokeBattles

Right so, last year's revival didn't really pan out after a while. Probably a variety of reasons that'll still be reasons this time around, but I'm too persistent to give up just yet!

As such, here are current ideas on how this attempt will work. If you have any additional suggestions or critiques on current suggestions, or want to help out in some way, feel free to post as such here!

-With the announcement of the fifth Pokémon gen, I figure it would be best to completely ditch the gemstone-named generations (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) and do a complete reboot using Black and White as the official version colors. Red/Blue/Green/Yellow will continue to serve as archives and new updates from Jason for Red Version. Gold/Silver/Crystal can be used both for archive purposes and for possible new content. Black will become the new "main" version, while White will be used for possibly both fan battles and IRC tournaments.

-Updates to the main site's design might be needed, especially to make navigation much easier overall.

-A few of the classic staples of PokéBattles content might be modified or removed to prevent clutter, such as the side listing for battle records.

-One of the major annoyances from the last attempted revival was the attempt of archiving every original Network site that still existed at some point in time. Due to this, we will not archive any Network sites unless the original owner provides the battles already properly formatted to go onto the current site. Alternately, if you'd like to provide a working link to your battles on your own website, we will accept that as well as long as all archive links are properly working. Archive.org websites do not count.

-Once again, a new Network will not start right away. Colors will not be reserved right away this time, nor will numbered position in a new Network, assuming it gets to that point this time. Additionally, if you feel the need to start a site of your own early this time, no update will be acknowledged on the main pages of the pokebattles.com website. Only updates for Black, White and Red will be mentioned on the main page until a Network is created. Additionally, when and if the Network begins, sites will only be accepted if it has updated in a seven day period from when the Network application has been sent in. More specific details at a later date.

-This board needs renamed since Platinum's getting ditched for official usage too. Possibly Grey/Gray, or whatever the third version color ends up being in a year or two. Several colors may be restricted from early Network use just in case Nintendo chooses something odd for the third color.


That pretty much covers everything I can think of at this point in time, so I'll add more in new posts if anything else comes to mind.
