I'm going to have a Pokébattles tournament. Seems ordinary, right? Well I'm going to pull it off using Starcraft.

Yes, I know you people are wondering how I'm going to pull it off, but I'm going to use a multitude of triggers to do it. I figured that since Pokébattles began from Starcraft, I may as well build a Starcraft map out of it.

How does that sound, everyone? If it's good, I'll try it out.

Of course, to pull it off, I would need the following about the players...

6 Pokémon: only these can be used in the tournament, and only 3 at a time... same as Pokémon Stadium. These don't have to be REAL Pokémon, just give me their names.
All the powers the Pokémon and their master have, including items: This is so I can make a trigger for each.
The rival: Of course, an idea as to which character I'll use. It'll probably depend on what's going on in Red version, really.
A prize: This is a tough one... any ideas for a prize? I'd say I'd give you one of my battles, but the Orange Version webmaster says they stink, and I'll take his word for it...

So, any ideas?

I will put the winning contestant in an Orange Version battle, AND, if thats not enough, they'll make a cameo appearance in a fanfic I'm going to write sometime soom.

I think this idea is a pretty good one... though the people who don't have StarCraft will be left out.

So when I give a time, It'll be according to the Red Version Webmaster's time zone. After all, I can wake up early every once and a while...

If you don't have Starcraft, you can still get onto battle.net by downloading the Starcraft demo from Blizzard.com . Also, if you have Diablo, the Diablo demo, or Warcraft II Battle.net edition that will also work.

However, you won't be able to join our Starcraft game unless you have the full version of Starcraft.

Wakuseino, will this be a Brood War game? Virtually everyone who has Starcraft has Brood War, but if just one person here doesn't, then it's probably a better idea to play normal SC.

I don't have brood war! Tried to get the battle pack but couldn't... so just have the original... might get it.. but not soon enough, I'm afraid.

Normal Starcraft just barely has enough units. It'll be a close shave though (Normal Starcraft units= 57 - 58, total Pokébattle monsters and trainers = 54)

Thus, it will be a normal Starcraft game.

The Pokébattle will begin at about 4:00 PM Pacific, April 13 (If that's a burden to anyone, just post: I'll delay it until 5 if this cause trouble), and the chat room to go to beforehand is "Pokébattles". People fighting in the tournament are advised to come half an hour early so that they can announce their Pokémon/Attacks so that I can bring them into the map right away. If you like, you CAN whisper them to me... Also, though you can choose colors, it's first-come, first-serve, so if you want to get your favorite color, it's advised to tell me about it before anyone else calls it. Once the map is complete, the battle will begin. (Hmm... what to do if there's only 2 or 3 people though...)

Also, Red is already chosen, as that's the Narrator's color.

I wasn't going to e-mail you about participation until you announced the time. This was waaaaay too short notice, Wakuseino. If you could announce the date/time a couple weeks ahead of time I could put out a PBN announcement to promote it. I do think this was a good idea.

And, also, being a frequent to Battle.net, aren't the servers different for different area's? I think when I log on it says something about being a Canadian server...

Yes, you're probably right: that IS too short an amount of time... DoubleD, it's easy enough to get past THAT effect... As far as I can tell, BTW, currently there are the North American servers, and then there are the Asian servers. I should be able to get onto the North American servers using exodus.battle.net.

Hmm... now then... to think up a time... now then... the fact is, timing is everything, and for me to be able to wake up in time for the battles, I'm going to need the alarm clock that my dad has. However, the fact is that I can only get it when he's out of town, so I might not be able to get more then a few days in advance.

When I go on exodus.battle.net, I CAN speak with people on other North American servers, I just can't speak with people on the Asian servers, and vice-versa. If I did, then there's no way that hannel would have been populated by the same people so quickly after the maintenance on exodus today...

well maybe it's because I think it needs more time to get people to join it, or maybe it's because I won't be home on saturday.

I know THAT for certain. I've played games against both Americans and Canadians using exodus.battle.net, so I should be able to play against anyone in North America.
